The museum of local history at Weserrenaissance Schloss Bevern was opened in 1978 and has since then been run by the Heimat- u. Kulturverein Bevern. Since the museum was moved into new premises in 2008, it compromises a number of exhibits arranged in six different topics that display the former life, working and living conditions of the people of Bevern.
The tour through the museum shows the story of the Castle build by Statius von Münchhausen, basic commodities from the 18th century, tradesmen’s equipment and products from the time up to the 20th century, a model from the early 20th century telegraph station near Bevern and a printing press that can be presented and commented on while used by a guide dressed up as Johann Gutenberg.
Finally, the museum also includes a grand collection of archaeological artefacts, mineralogical finds and fossils.
